The Express & Star, April 1994

In this fast moving society my daughters and I now live in, what a wonderful night we had in the torrential rain walking round Dudley last Wednesday evening.
We lost count of the number of times our umbrellas turned inside out. But did we laugh…
Created by two tour guides and their colleagues – today’s youth – working for Dudley Ghost Walk, it could have been a disastrous evening, but made so enjoyable by this young generation who so often don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Please convey my thanks to the young gentleman who led the Dudley Ghost Tour yesterday evening. As I was unable to complete the Tour, I missed the opportunity to thank him personally.
He is to be commended for his enthusiasm and dedication. The horrendous rain did not deter him, and he must have been soaked through to the skin and extremely cold.
Please say “Thank you” to him for me.
Yours faithfully

First of all I would like to thank you on behalf of myself, my wife, and my mom, for the wonderful experience we had last night (06/04/05).
We all thought it was excellently presented, narrated and acted. It was
interesting and amusing at the same time. We hope you enjoyed your pint
afterwards as you deserved it.
We look forward to another entertaining evening on a future ghost walk.

Yours sincerely,
Mark Underhill.

We would just like to say a massive thank you to the Dudley Ghost Tour guide Craig, and all the brilliant and brave actors!
The tour was very educational, funny and scary all at the same time.
We can honestly say it was the best night out we've had in ages!
The most entertaining part was at the very end where my mother got a very large bucket of water thrown in her face - that was a moment I’ll treasure forever!
Keep up the great work!

Firstly, thank you Craig (and others) for a brilliant night (06/03/06).
Myself and my fiancée thoroughly enjoyed the Ghost Tour!!
It was worth every penny, such value for money.
Not only spooky tales, but a great historical insight as well.
Will definitely be booking again along with a few others next time.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Dear Craig,

I just wanted to thank you for a really enjoyable night. My friends and I
were very impressed with the history and stories given. Just a shame the
night wasn’t longer and the bar open for longer!! It would be really
appreciated if you could let me know when you have more ghost walks planned as we will definitely be there.

Thanks again.

Dear Craig,

Just wanted to say thank you for a great evening on the Summer Ghost Tour.
It was our first time, and we did not know what to expect. In our group we had believers, non-believers and all those in between, but by the end of the night, no matter what our beliefs, we all agreed it was money well spent, not only on the tour, but behind the bar in the Station Hotel as well!!

The evening started with a bit of banter and a good giggle by some of us, but the giggles soon stopped when we found out we were not alone, as Phill told us that "George" was accompanying us on our tour of the cellar.
Throughout the tour our cameras were flashing like mad, hoping to catch a
glimpse of anything that was there, and we weren't disappointed when we
looked back at our pictures in the bar later on. We had captured orbs, lights and various other strange sights, which we will no doubt talk about in the future.
After talking to you in the bar after the tour, we cannot wait for the autumn tours to start. Think you have got a couple of ghost addicts on your hands now!
Once again, thanks for all the hard work that you and the others put into making our night a memorable one.

Can I just say here, to anyone thinking about coming on a Dudley Ghost Tour in the near future, the phrases, “very large” and “thrown in her face”, may be a slight exaggeration!

Hello,

I came on the Dudley Ghost Tour last night (18/10/06) with 4 of my friends, and I just wanted to e-mail you to say thank you for a really enjoyable night!
We really didn’t know what to expect when we started, but the stories were all very interesting, and we all really enjoyed it!

Hi Craig,

How did you enjoy the Richard Felix event at the Castle? (12/5/06)
We all thought it was very over priced and extremely over rated!
“The Original Dudley Ghost Tour” is definitely a much better evening, and very good value for money!

Regards,
Nikki Worton.

Dear Craig,

Am now back home in deepest darkest Dorset, but just wanted to reiterate what I said to you last Thursday night (02/11/06).

I have been on various ghost walks in other parts of the country, and I would rate yours as one of the best!

It was a great mix of spooky tales and historical facts, which helped set the scene, and added flesh to the stories that followed. For the most part, the other tours I’ve attended did little more than troop you from one location to another with the guide recounting just the bare details of what paranormal events has been reported there.

I'd also like to add that the locations on your tour were superb! The cellars of the Station Hotel, and the ruins of the grounds of Dudley Castle in particular, are a “Ghost Hunters” dream!!

All in all, your tour represents EXCELLENT value for money, and I would recommend it to anyone, whether or not they were interested in the paranormal!

Anyway, thanks for a great night and if you ever find out what comes wafting into the Station Hotel bar at around 11:35pm, do thank it for freezing my back half (and my front half later, after you had gone, and I'd swapped my stool for the sofa!)

I hope to be in Dudley again in the spring, and will definitely be booking a place on the tour again, or maybe one of the “Specials” next time, if any are being done around the time I visit.

Kind Regards

Hi Craig.

I went on the Ghost Tour (8/11/2006) and I would like to say a big thank you to you, who gave us a brilliant evening, and well worth the money!

The spooky tales and history that we listened to were extremely enjoyable, and finding out about some of the dastardly deeds done in and around Dudley was very creepy!
I’d recommend this tour to anyone, and (hopefully) will definitely be booking a place again in the near future!

Hello Craig,

My friend and I were on your ghost tour on November 22nd of this year.

I took a load of pictures, but the funny thing was, my camera, which was fully charged before we started, only worked once in the cellar - then went dead!

Then on the castle grounds it was fully powered again!

Some pictures aren’t clear, but some show clear orbs.

I really enjoyed the tour, and will definitely be recommending it in the future!

Many thanks.

Hi, Just a note to say how much I enjoyed my first ghost tour last night.
I had a great time listening to all the stories and history of Dudley, which due to personal research, I know to be true.
Not too heavy, but never frivolous - you blended the night beautifully.

Many Thanks

Hi Craig,

I came on your Ghost Tour Special on Wednesday (21/02/07) with my partner, brother, dad and a friend and I just wanted to say thank you. I have been on the “Original” walk before and thoroughly enjoyed it, and wanted my family to experience it too. It was a fantastic night and well worth the mad dash from work to get there.

Originally from Dudley but now living in Birmingham you taught me a few things about Dudley that I did not even know!
You, Phil and the actors worked very hard and made it so enjoyable and we will definitely come on the tour again…this time with cameras!

Thank you again.

Hello Craig

I'd just like to thank you for a wonderful night on the 16th of March. The children, adults and myself had a great time on the Ghost Tour.
Thank you for doing the fancy dress walk for comic relief, I know this was a bit unusual for you, but I thought you took it rather well!

I think we may have raised over £300 pounds for “Comic Relief”, which will help kids all around the UK and Africa and you can be proud to know that you helped in a very big way. Aaron was the lad who won the mask and was thrilled with it, and showed it everybody on the coach on the way home. But do you know what the best thing was? The kids learned about the local history of Dudley without even knowing it!!

Again a million thanks.

Dear Craig,

Ghost Tour Thursday 14th June 2007

What a thoroughly enjoyable evening we had last night, I could not believe it when you said it was 10.30; the time had absolutely flown past.
Your enthusiasm and knowledge made the evening enthralling, and my party and I will certainly be recommending your tour to anyone who will listen.

Keep up the good work, and may I just add that you really look the part!
Thanks once again.

I would like to say a huge thank you for all of your help, both in the run up to, and on the night of the 10th October 2007.

As you know, I arranged our private Ghost Tour in aid of the Dudley branch of the Alzhiemer's Society, and I am thrilled to be able to tell you that with ticket sales, the raffle, and donations that I received, we raised £308.00 for them.

Everyone that went on the tour said how much they enjoyed it, and many of them have said that they hope to join you on another one soon. I think that just goes to show how fantastic your tours are!

I wish you the best of luck for the future, and I hope to see you again very soon.

All the very best,

Dear Craig (and team),

Just a short note to thank you for the fantastic Ghost Tour we attended with you last night. We both had a really enjoyable night. With two small children, we don't get out much (How sad?) however, this was a really different night out for us and we thoroughly enjoyed the walk and your re-counting of the various stories.

Thank you again for a really great enjoyable (and value for money) evening out!

Hi Craig,

Thanks for a brilliant night last night, I shall be attending again for sure! I was the tall guy with glasses and short hair, who said I'd been on the previous ghost tour at the start.

Also, I meant to tell you, around 20 years ago, you paid my class a visit at Leasowes High School, Halesowen, and spent the day with us making puppets! That was a fantastic day too, and one I will never forget, I still have the hand puppet made out of foam too!!

The bizarre thing is you haven't changed one bit!!

Thanks again for a fantastic tour last night.

Cheers

Dear Craig,

Just a little note to thank you for yet another fantastic tour, on Thursday 25th September.

Some of us had already been on tours with you in the past, others had never been on one before, but everyone agreed that the tour was amazing, and that you are a fantastic guide.

I have already been asked, by a number of people, when I will be arranging the next tour!

From our ticket sales and donations, we raised £110.00 for the Dudley Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

It was a brilliant night out, raising money for a very good cause. I would recommend it to anyone.

Thank you again for all of your help,

Very Best Wishes,

Just like to say it was wicked! :) Me, my mates and my family really enjoyed it!

Keep up the good work! :)

It’s true that a great many people have noticed, myself included, that there’s an odd drop in temperature that comes from the direction of the restaurant, and moves through the bar area of the Station Hotel, every night without fail, between 11.35 and 11.40 pm.
It feels just like a cold breeze, but without the actual movement of air.

Many people believe it’s the spirit of “George” doing his rounds as he would have done when he was alive.

Then again, the heating in the bar does switch itself off automatically at 11.15pm!

Just in case anybody reading this is wondering... The “chocolate hearts” she refers to are only given out on the “Valentines” season!

Hi Craig and Ghost Tour Crew,

Just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful time on our second visit to the Dudley Ghost Tour. We attended the Summer Special earlier this year and the Original Ghost Tour for my birthday treat last night (12th November 2008). We thoroughly enjoyed the tours and felt attending both were two parts of a fantastic all round experience.

You have an enchanting way of telling the stories, making the history of Dudley come alive and quite clearly have personal pride in sharing the stories with the audience, which is what sets this tour aside from other ghost hunting organisations.

I have attached some pictures which I took on the tour, don't know if they are of any use to you?

Many Thanks,

Melanie (and Nigel) Goodhead
